Coffee: Your Rx this cold upcoming winter

While totally worth it for the delicious food, the walk to Catch 35 in Chicago can be a perilous one in the coming months. If you’re like us, you’ll be asking why Chicago isn’t called “the Frozen Snowy City” instead of “the Windy City.”

And if you’re visiting our location in beautiful downtown Naperville, it’s not a walk in the park either. (At least Chicago has the lakefront effect to keep things a little warmer!)

Luckily, at either location, you can warm up with one of our favorite beverages upon arrival: coffee. Rich and aromatic – and generously warm – this beverage has been a favorite for generations for a reason. Multiple reasons, actually. Here are some:

Coffee can make you live longer – it’s proven!

Coffee is rich in antioxidants, which can help fend off illness and help you feel rejuvenated. In fact, a recent study published the journal Circulation shows that the more coffee you drink, the lower your risk of death from serious illnesses. Even if you don’t like caffeine, decaffeinated coffee had a similar effect.

At the very least, the antioxidants can help you fend off getting the flu or the cold.

It makes dessert even better

What’s coffee cake without the coffee? Pie without coffee? Not nearly as fun, in our opinion. Better yet, you can turn coffee into the dessert. Go crazy with the cream and sugar and you’ve got yourself a semi-indulgent treat but with fewer calories than cake or pie.

You can customize it

Like your coffee black? Black but with sugar? Black but with fake sugar? With or without caffeine? With a little cream? With a little cream and sugar? Or, better yet, would you like some coffee with your cream?

You can customize your coffee to your tastes and preferences. You make it a nearly calorie-free drink to start the day or an early afternoon pick-me-up treat depending on how much sugar and cream you add (or don’t add).

It’s full of flavor

A standout in our carryout menu is our Intelligentsia iced coffee (and regular coffee too). Intelligentsia is a fresh coffee roaster located right in Chicago that uses vintage German roasters to capture a truly unique flavor. If you think you’ve found the best house or breakfast blend in the city, Intelligentsia will likely prove you wrong – it’s that fresh and bold.

It’s warm

Perhaps the best benefit of all – especially if you’re coming in from the cold – is that coffee comes warm. It can sooth a sore throat on the way down while warming up your cold, tired hands as you hold it.
