Wind down summer right with these summer wines
It’s August in Chicagoland. While we aren’t at the risk of summer ending anytime soon, this month marks the point at which days start to get cooler after a brutally hot July.
While it may be sad to see summer start to go, there’s at least a fun way to drown your sorrows at Catch 35: Our varied and extensive wine list. Honor this final stretch of summer with one of our varietals, specials or other item off our wine menu.
Don’t know where to start? Let’s walk through some of the best summer wines on our menu.
Wine types and pairings
First, a quick review of our extensive wine options. We offer chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, white and red varietals, and merlot. This is in addition to our champagne, sparkling wine and beer menus. Within those categories you’ll be sure to find at least one or two wines to accompany the perfect late-summer night.
You’ll also want to choose a wine that will best accompany your food if you’ll be coming in for lunch of dinner. For example, choose a redder, bold wine for steak dishes and a whiter, dryer wine for shrimp and other seafood. As we are most known as a Chicago and Naperville seafood restaurant, here are some of our wines that go excellently with fish, shellfish and more:
- Chateau Del La Roche Sauvignon Blanc – This crisp white wine comes from Loire Valley, France and works well with white fish and shellfish.
- Pali Riviera Pinot Noir – Pairs excellently with darker seafood such as salmon and ahi tuna.
- Taittinger champagne – A brut (dry) champagne that works with just about any seafood dish.
Some awesome summer wines
These delicious wines are excellent on their own during a warm summer night, or paired with a delicious signature Catch 35 dish.
- Chehalmen Reserve Chardonnay – From Dundee Hills, Oregon; combines citrus tastes with the sweet crispness or pear. Enjoy with seafood.
- Mauriston Zinfandel and St. Francis Reserve Zinfandel – Both dark red varietals from California, they are strong but balanced with notes of berries and cinnamon. Enjoy with steak and Italian-inspired dishes.
- Sokol Blosser Pinot noir – A medium red wine with notes of fig and pear. Pair with non-seafood items from our grill.
