Wild Salmon is Good For You
Food for the brain!
When eating out we want the best possible food available that is tasty and affordable. Salmon is one of those foods that provide us with a bounty of health benefits and tasty preparations.
Wild and farmed salmon- Catch 35’s availability and sourcing
-Farmed or Wild?
Both types not only taste good but are good for you. Salmon, second most popular fish in the U.S. , has a savory, earthy, and slightly sweet flavor and is enriched with omega 3 fats, high quality protein, minerals, and vitamins. At Catch 35, we provide both farmed and wild salmon for our patrons.
Farmed Atlantic salmon has a milder flavor than wild salmon. The colors of Atlantic salmon range from light pink to orange and have a medium-firm texture. Year round we have farmed Atlantic salmon that is prepared two ways. A zesty lemon dill sauce with grilled salmon or a sweet chili sauce atop a blackened salmon balances the textures and flavors well.
But the wild season is coming soon!
Wild Alaskan salmon fishing season is between June and September which is when Catch 35 offers it. Knowing the benefits that salmon can provide to our customers we take pride in only purchasing wild salmon when it is fresh. We offer throughout the season Alaskan King, Sockeye, and Coho that come off the fishing boats from the Alaskan coast; each with their own unique flavor and texture.
- Alaskan King is a rich red color with a succulent flavor because of its firm texture and high oil content.
- Sockeye salmon can be identified by its bright red color and is dense and full flavored.
- Coho salmon is firmer with a richer flavor.
So throughout the season, June through September, come try the different fresh wild salmon preparations we offer at Catch 35. The chef is always taking the freshest ingredients to prepare unique and innovative ways to enjoy this traditional, healthy, and popular fish. Stop in a see what Chef Eddie has prepared for you.
